STEP ONE
Collection of research regarding a designer/artist and their work with patterns. Required identifying reflection of culture, tools needed to create the work, and sources of inspiration.
STEP TWO
Creation of an 8" x 8”, 2D pattern interpretation from my previous research. Drawn on sketchbook paper using black ink. The final selection was cut into four pieces and affixed with drafting tape to create a repeatable pattern.
STEP THREE
The repeatable pattern was scanned and brought into Adobe Illustrator to create a colored vector image. It was then brought into Adobe Photoshop to be copied and fitted on a 16" x 16" sized layout.
STEP FOUR
Creation of the final 12" x 12" 3D cardboard design. Involved engraving the repeat pattern by hand and gluing kraft paper to mimic mountain moss.
STEP FIVE
Integration of the vector pattern and 3D cardboard into the built environment. JPEG images of my pattern were brought into Adobe Photoshop and applied to stock images that represent my vision of its application.
